Quilting for Boston

Hi Friends,

Everyone knows quilters band together to help those in need, so in that spirit I wanted to mention two opportunities we have to make a little something to show our support for the community of Boston.
QFB Windmill block by Stephanie @ Simple Sewendility
First, the Boston MQG is collecting blocks to make quilts for those directly affected by the bombing.  They are asking for blocks 12.5" tall x any width, in the bright and cheery colors of blue, yellow, grey, and white.  (Looks like you can sneak in some aqua, too) They also need donations of yardage in the same colors for backing.
These blocks/yardage should be postmarked by May 24th.  The address is included in the link above.  See what others have donated in the Flickr group

The Vancouver MQG is also organizing a project that I think is extra lovely- To Boston With Love.  They are requesting 6"w by 8" h flags to send to Boston to hang for their Memorial Day celebrations.

Here's the bright and sweet palette they are asking us to use:
Please read the full sewing instructions here. Flickr group here.

They are asking those of us who are in a MQG to collect our flags and tie them together into a bunting before mailing, which means less work for the organizers plus our flags will all fly together!  I'm happy to collect and tie together any flags you guys want to make, but they need to be IN BOSTON by May 21st, so  I will need to receive your flags no later than May 14th.  (I'm leaving for Quilt Market on the 15th!)  I'll drop them in the post first thing on the 15th, so if you're not sure yours will make it to me in time, just mail yours directly to Boston so they will still be included!

If you want to include your flags in the group bunting, please mail your flags to my beloved local quilt shop (so that they arrive there by May 14th!) and I will pick them up there:
