Diabolical Jane QAL

Several of our members are keeping busy with our Diabolical Jane Quiltalong , organized by Phyliss Jaffe. Diabolical Jane is a quilt pattern based on a 200 year-old quilt our members spotted at the DAR Museum several years ago. Jessie Aller then created a tutorial , with a warning -- the piecing is simple, but the fabric choices are diabolical! -- and named it for Jane Chick, who is certainly not diabolical! Anjeanette Klinder later designed a mini version, the Sweet Baby Jane , and drew up a handy coloring page . This quilt has quite a bit of lore, and I'm probably not getting all the details right, but as you can see it's a really beautiful and unique design. (The above photo is Jessie Aller's version, which closely resembles the DAR original; you can see both versions on her tutorial. ) This is an informal quiltalong you can do at your own pace. New Website!

Check out our new website ! If it looks like we haven't been active, that is just because we've been busy behind the scenes setting up and transferring things over to our new site, https://dcmodernquiltguild.com/ . The new site has an easier interface and contains much of our resources and challenges from the blog, as well as information about our charity quilts, social justice committee, and an easy way to join us. We're still working out the best way to share regular updates and news, but that will come soon! In the meantime feel free to reach out to any of the board members if you have any questions.

How to wrap a bee....

It has been 6 months plus, and so the first DCMQG bee is a wrap. There were 6 of us, one for each month. Here is how it went... May was my month and I asked for purple or aqua wonky stars with low volume background. Although they have not been sewn together, they have been up on my design wall for a while and I have been admiring them, playing with layout and asking myself if I want to add in low volume blocks for negative space. Still thinking... June was Anna G's month and she asked for modern birch blocks. She was right on it and not only made the top, but also quilted it. I just know that the recipient must have been thrilled with it...how could they not be? This picture is from her blog Life Sew Crafty where you will find more info about this quilt.
