Scrappy Photographer Quilt by Craftyfesta1
Hi Everyone!

Here's a lovely quilt added to the pool by someone I do not think I have met- welcome, Craftyfesta1 !  Thanks for showing off your colorful quilt :)  Please comment and tell us a little bit about yourself, if you like!

Our next meeting is coming up Saturday, July 20th, at the Arlington Central Library, 10:30-4:30.
Have a great weekend!

  1. Sadly, I won't be at the next meeting.

  2. Well, helllllo! Sarah here (aka craftyfesta1). I can't tell you how thrilled I was to see my quilt pop up on my blog reader this weekend :) I live in northern VA (like Falls Church, northern VA not Bristow northern VA) and am part of the NOVA MQG. I am new to the quilting scene; I've been doing it for about two years. I have a two year old and a two month old, and I started when my two year old was a newborn. I was a principal before I had her, so I found myself with lots of downtime and not a lot to do (crazy, I know). So, I decided to fill my time with sewing. I started off with making some charity blocks and then worked my way up to baby quilts. I have made so much and sent so much away, my new goal is to sew for me!!

This quilt doesn't fit in that category (ha!). I have a photographer friend in PA who was talking about her love of quilts, so we started brainstorming about a quilt she would like for herself. She liked this design because she said it reminded her of perfectly framed photos. Each block's center square is a B&W camera fabric; it's surrounded by different colorful prints to represent all of the colorful people and places she has encountered with her photography business. This sucker needs to be basted. I hate basting. Ugh.

I came across the DC guild because blogging has had such a huge impact on my quilting. I wanted to find bloggers who were doing what I was doing in my area. It's comforting to know that there are stay at home moms, runners (and runner wanna bes), etc that are right along there will me...and probably only a few miles away...trying to drown out the call of the sewing machine during the day while our families and jobs need us.

I would LOVE to attend a meeting, however my two month old won't let me get away for that amount of time. However, I hope to be able to meet up sometime soon.

Thanks for letting me crash the party.
