Victoria Findlay Wolfe Lecture/ Trunk Show and another retreat!

Guys, I'm so excited...

An opportunity for a sweet little retreat fell into my lap this weekend and I want to share it with you...

Double Edged Love by Victoria Findlay Wolfe

On Sunday, August 25th, Victoria Findlay Wolfe (Best in Show winner at QuiltCon, Author of 15 Minutes of Play, fabric designer for Newcastle Fabrics, and prez of the NYC Metro Mod Quilt Guild)  is giving a lecture and trunk show at a little quilt shop in Bedford, PA, which is about 2 hours from top of the beltway.

My in-laws live up there so I keep up on the happenings at Mary's Quilt Shop, and when we went up for the holiday weekend I stopped in and signed up for the lecture.  I was chatting with Mary (who is quilty-famous herself, check out the  link to her shop!) and I wondered aloud if anyone I know would want to make the trip up with me, when Mary said, well, they can come and stay in the retreat upstairs!  Mary and her husband bought a beautiful old building on the town's main street and restored it, and now in addition to her little shop on the first floor, it has a gorgeous, all new retreat space on the upper floors. It's lovely.

I thought some of you might be interested in heading up to see the lecture, and after I saw the retreat space it quickly morphed into a weekend getaway full of quilty goodness- we could carpool up on Friday, sew some that night, sew all day Saturday and into Sunday morning, then cap it off with Victoria Findlay Wolfe's presentation!  I am going for sure, and there is space for 10 more quilters to come along!

Spacious Living Room

The retreat space has 11 extra-long twin beds in 5 bedrooms, there are 4 full (and sparkly new) bathrooms, a big living room for lounging and hand stitching, and a big kitchen should we feel compelled to cook.  The building is in town, so there are other food options available. On the first floor beside the shop, there is a large sewing room for our machines.
