100 Quilts for Kids and Carpenter's Shelter

This year, the DC Modern Quilt Guild will donate our group quilts to Carpenter's Shelter in Alexandria, VA. Carpenter's Shelter is an 80 bed family shelter that serves over 300 individuals a year - a third of whom are children. The children at Carpenter's Shelter range from infants to teenagers, so pretty much any size or color combination you might choose for your quilt will be appreciated and used. The shelter is always in need of twin sized bedding, so if you feel up to it, you might consider a bed-sized donation.

We're still looking for one or two more people to coordinate charity quilts (fabric and batting will be provided) and participate in the blog hop. See more details here and contact dcmqgtreasurer@gmail.com if interested rather than commenting on this post - I might forget to check back!

Also, please email me (dcmqgtreasurer@gmail.com) if you are willing to help out with our group quilts by making blocks, and how many blocks you can make. We'll distribute fabric at our August meetings (see the Calendar) or can mail fabric to you. You can mail the blocks back or bring them to our charity sewing day, which will be September 13th at the Burke Library in Alexandria from 10:30 to 4:30.

Please consider getting involved and helping out with 100 Quilts for Kids in whatever way you are able. We're relying on guild participation to make this event a success! Also, a special thank you to our business member, Sue Bentley of SuZquilts for donating the batting for our group quilts!
