July Business Member Update

Here's what's happening this month with our business members:

from Patches:

To help promote our Country’s Red, White & Blue, our July coupon is for 25% off a yard or more of any of these colors.  We also have pre-cut flag kits, and flag panels with lights and much more in our patriotic department.
July is also the kick off of the Row by Row Experience Shop Hop.  (Rowbyrowexperience.com) This hop lasts all summer and has participating shops throughout 34 states including Maryland!  Starting July 1st Patches has our “Birdhouse Garden” row pattern all ready for you to pick up, and you can see our row in the Shop ~ come in to pick up a kit while supplies last!  Aaaand...each shop will be awarding a bundle of 25 fat quarters to the first person who brings in a completed (quilted, bound, labeled) row quilt using row patterns from at least 8 different shops. (And there may just be a bonus prize at our shop for that person if their finished quilt includes our Patches row). The Quilt challenge contest expires October 31, 2014.
For you newbies, we have a Beginning Quiltmaking Class starting next week on Tues. July 8th.  It is a 6 session class where you will learn everything you will need to know to guide you through the process of making your very first quilt.
We have lots of new fabrics in stock including some of the American Made Brand solids from Clothworks.  And, Patches is pleased to welcome the DCMQG for a free sew-in on Saturday, July 5th, from 9-4!  See you there!
On June 26th, 2013, I told my husband that I thought is was time to open a Finch storefront.  The very next day, I met with my landlord (who is, hands down, the best landlord in Leesburg) and asked him if he would let me sign a lease for 1 month... And he said yes.  The whole Morgenthau family spent the next 5 days building furniture and setting up sewing machines, working around toddler naps and trips to the hardware store.  On the 4th of July we were open for business.
The home studio had a small following, and it didn't take long for our student list to grow.  Those first customers and students will always be significant to me.  You know who you are.  You believed in my vision for this vibrant community, and it was more to you than just a store or a one-time class.  You saw yourself here- you found your place at the Finch, and I am so thankful for you.
And what better way to thank you and celebrate our first year than to have a big sale, and host special events all month long!
Let's go at this chronologically:
July 5th:
Patchwork Pillow Mini Workshops- Have family or friends in town for the holiday?  Bring them along for a fun, quick activity!  Supplies included! We'll have a grab bag full of pre-release fabric for you to sew with... Yay! (sessions available all day long).

July 18th:
Finch Family Night- These plans are still underway, and we're keeping it under our hat until we have more details.  The plan is to show you, your hubbies, and the kids a good time with a good old fashioned family night.  We'll start inside with some refreshments, and then move out doors for a ..... oh, right... I can't tell you that quite yet! Stay tuned!
July 25th:
Friday Night Sewcial- you know the drill!

And, the DCMQG would like to welcome our newest business member, SuZQuilts, a local longarm quilter.  Sue is on vacation this month, so we'll hear her news starting next month!

Thank you to all our business members for supporting the guild!
