September Business Member Update

What's up with our Business Members?

Here's some inspiration from SuZQuilts:

QUILT AS DESIRED. Do those directions inspire you? Challenge you? Baffle you to the point of moving on to your next quilt project? Modern quilts, with their big blocks, solid fabrics, and negative space, provide a great opportunity for quilting.  SuZquilts can get that quilting done for you! Using a computerized, automated longarm machine (the Innova with the AutoPilot), SuZquilts can handle both small and big quilts, providing a large quilting area for optimum results on the finished project.

Using automated quilting, designs are imported or programmed into a computer that directs the longarm machine as it stitches.  SuZQuilts uploads the designs, and the quilting options are endless, from a simple meander to Zen doodles, and just about everything in between!  Long lines the length of the quilt and consistent geometric patterns are possible and come out beautifully.  Suzquilts also uses pantographs - an all-over design for quilting - and pantographs that fit the modern aesthetic are being developed by artistic designers at a rapid pace.  From simple geometric designs and shapes, to impressive modern patterns, pantographs can be used all over a quilt, or modified via computer to create a new design or adjusted to fit your quilt.

Inspiration for quilting designs can come from many places. You can sketch out your ideas for quilting, bring magazine clippings, or even select pantograph designs (see karleeporter.com, urbanelementz.com, or piecenquilt.com for some amazing ideas), and SuZquilts will work with you to finish your quilt!  More information is available at www.SuZquilts.com or on Facebook at facebook.com/suzquilts.   Please email suzquilts@aol.com or call 703-447-6806 to arrange a free consultation.

New fabric is plentiful! We have the new Gramercy line by Art Gallery Quilts, Far Far Away, all the batiks from Alison Glass, and much more!
And our friends up north, Patches:

This month Jackie is attending a Viking conference, where the company will be unveiling their newest additions to their sewing machine lineup.  She'll be back with new machines and some special deals for any of you who are dreaming of a new machine!
We still have a few spots left on our Quilter's Quest bus tour, Friday & Saturday, November 7th and 8th.  This bus will take you on a tour of ten Maryland and Northern Virginia quilt shops.  The cost for both days is $150, or $95 for one day.  Lunch, games, and prizes are included!

Thanks to our business members for their support of the DC Modern Quilt Guild!  Please keep these lovely local businesses in mind whenever you are in the market for quilty satisfaction!
