The DCMQG is hosting Lizzy House for a lecture on September 10th at 7:30pm at Falls Church Episcopal.  This event is FREE for members and $10 at the door for non-members (cash only).  The lecture will be about how Lizzy House entered the textile industry and is making her way as an artist. It should be a fun night so make a note of it.  We will also be asking our business members about setting up pop up shops for the event, so you might want to put 6:30pm on your calendar to allow some time for shopping.

While you have your calendars out, write down our Charity Sew In on September 26th from 10am to 5pm, also at Falls Church Episcopal.  We do a charity sewing day every September and it is always open to the public.  This year's guild quilts will be donated to the DC General Homeless Shelter.  You can find out more information about their quilt drive here.  The shelter has about 600 children there.  The current drive is looking for baby (40x40") and toddler (40x60") quilts but I'm certain that any quilt size will be accepted and find a loving child to cuddle with it.

The current membership year for the guild started at the beginning of July.  We have 62 members who have paid dues including seven new members.  I'd like to give a quick shout out to new members Lisa B., Lynne B., Kathryn, Dian, Erinn, Sari and Jean Ann.  Welcome!

In the next day or two I'll be sending out a link to the member survey.  This survey helps us plan for the whole year so please take a moment to fill it out.  If you have not yet paid your dues, you will not be receiving guild emails.

Lastly, we've had a commission work request come in by email.  If you are interested in doing some commission work to make a quilt of men's ties, please send me an email and I'll forward the information to you.
