100 Quilts for Kids, Charity Sewing Day, and Prizes!

Hello.  This is Heather from Quilts in the Queue.  I've been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm for our charity quilt drive this year! If you need some inspiration, check out the #dcmqgcharity hashtag on Instagram. Right now, there are a bunch of the beautiful bundles that Melinda put together from generous guild donations - an especially big thanks to Amy!

Don't worry if you haven't jumped on the charity quilt train yet - you still have plenty of time and opportunities to get involved! First of all, consider claiming one of the lovely fabric bundles Melinda has curated from the donated fabric. You can do that on Instagram or on one of the previous blog posts, including here and here.

Also, our annual charity sewing day is coming up, Saturday, September 26th from 10-5 at Falls Church Episcopal (115 E Fairfax St. Falls Church, VA). Our charity sewing day is open to all comers so bring a friend or two! Bring your own project, or come to help us on some of our group quilts. We'll put you to work stitching or pressing blocks, piecing the batting donated by our long-arm quilter friends, or helping photograph our finishes!

As a reminder, DC Modern is donating baby/toddler quilts to children living in DC General Homeless Shelter. We'll collect quilts at the September meeting and again at the November meeting in Arlington. Every quilt you donate as part of the event gets you an entry for some pretty amazing prizes!

You can link up here by September 30th to be entered for these prizes as part of 100 Quilts for Kids. I also gathered some prizes just for our guild, so be on the look out to enter for those later in the fall. Would you like to take over the 100 Quilts for Kids mantle? Although I still see many charity quilts in my future, I'm ready to pass along the organization piece to someone else. I'll happily share any information, sponsor contacts, and things I've learned along the way with you - let me know if you are interested by emailing me at heather at quiltsinthequeue dot com (note: I don't monitor comments here on the DC Modern blog, so if you try to contact me that way I may not see it).

Prizes for DC Modern Members!
Let me know if you have any questions and look forward to seeing many of you on the 26th!
