April Meeting Recap

Meeting Highlights 

We had a great meeting at the Church of St. Clement in Alexandria, VA on Saturday, April 8th. In addition to some productive sewing, a beautiful show and tell, and lots of quilty conversation, the DCMQG Board presented some of the things we've been working on. A summary of the Business Meeting notes are below. Photos from our show and tell are included throughout.



Nancy Purvis Workshop - The DCMQG Board is excited to announce our first workshop of 2017 with Nancy Purvis!  Nancy is author of Quilting from Every Angle and you can learn more about her on her website and Instagram (http://owensolivia.blogspot.com, @nancy_purvis). 

Saturday, May 6:  Improv Half Square Triangles
Sunday, May 7:  Improv Log Cabins 10-4:30 pm each day, with a break for lunch
Cost for Members:  $65/workshop; registration opens Tuesday, April 11 at 7pm
Cost for Non-Members: $85/workshop; registration opens Tuesday, April 18 at 7pm 


There will be space for 20 attendees each day. Both workshops will be held at the Montgomery County Offices Cafeteria, in Rockville, MD. There is free parking nearby. 




Greenery Challenge - Please don't forget to post your pictures of projects inspired by the Pantone Color of the Year "Greenery". For Instagram, use #dcmqgchallenge. There are no size restrictions at this time but if you think you might want your work to be eligible for future shows, please keep dimensions under 50" x 50". 



Monthly Meeting Workshops - We are beginning to develop more in-meeting programming and have a few great member-led workshops for May and June. 

     May 20th - at US Botanic Garden, 10:00 to 4pm at  In a couple of weeks we will send out a message with instructions and supplies required.

at the Hyattsville Multi-Purpose Room,10:30-4pm  at


     July - Will be a charity sew day for the pouches we are making for women in shelters. Fabric, zipper and filling supplies will be provided. Meeting location TBA.






Survey Summary - Thanks to the  62 members that completed the 2017 Member Survey! We learned about your geographic distribution, experience levels, and favorite guild activities. We received suggestions for future swap topics, workshop speakers, and guild swag. We have produced a report on the survey results and will be posting it on the website soon.
