From the event page:
“Curated by the Arlington CostumeLab, Spectacularly Solid: An Exhibit by the DC Modern Quilt Guild is a celebration of the art of contemporary quilt making. On display from January 9 through March 31, 2019, the exhibit concludes during National Quilt Making Month.

“For this third year’s collaboration, DC Modern Quilt Guild members focused on working with all solid-colored fabrics. A departure from the vast field of printed fabrics on the market today, working with solids allows quilters to focus on the simplicity and pure qualities of color: namely, hue, saturation, and value. The resulting creations range from bold and bright, to muted and monotone. Techniques incorporated by the artists include traditional piecing as well as more modern, improvisational methods." Embellishments using hand-appliqué and hand-quilting in addition to machine piecing and quilting are examples of the ingenuity on display in these creations.”
