Meeting at Finch Sewing Studio, this Saturday 7/30!

Hi Everyone,

We hope you can make it out to Finch Knitting and Sewing Studio in Leesburg, VA this Saturday (July 30th) because Nicole has a ton of fun stuff in store for us DCMQGers!  Grab whatever project you're working on and come sew at Finch!  We'll meet there from 10am to 4pm, with the business discussion starting after lunch (around 1:30ish) and Nicole says there should be plenty of room for everyone to sew on machines and by hand.

We did want to let anyone who ordered DCMQG t-shirts to know that they will NOT be available to pick up at this weekend's meeting after all.  The order is going to take a bit longer than we'd originally hoped, but we aim to have them by the end of August when we meet at Patches in Mt. Airy to distribute to those who've purchased.

Now, I could go on about mimosas and surprise deals...  But, instead, let's hear from Nicole:

Hello DCMQG friends!
I'm so excited that you're coming to Finch this Saturday for a day of sewing and socializing.  I have some fun things planned for you this time (including a special discount) so read below to find out more.

First things first...
We have mimosas! We'll serve mimosas when you arrive, and there is bottled water for you to use throughout the day.

Row by row...
We are participating in row by row this year... Yay! Our row is a mix of what I love best at Finch, birds (of course) and the flock (or community). We started with the nest and the tree trunk beside it, a line of flying geese in a cloudy sky, and finished it with a large triangle which represents a flock's flight formation, a nod to the cooperative nature of the bird community. We have the pattern and kits available for you. If you choose to participate, be sure to tag us and use the hashtag #finchmade so we can see them. It's so fun to see all your different nests.

New Fabric...
We have lots of that!! New Cotton and steel is here, and we have it in quilting cottons as well as canvas, rayon (so so delicious), and lawn. Be sure to look for Paper Obsessed by Crimson Tate (those paper airplanes are too good). Since the guild was here last, we have started stocking Moda precuts and yardage. We have Christmas fabrics by Basic Grey (the colors in these are great), as well as Andover and Cotton + Steel. We have a couple C+ S flannels in now, the rest will come next month. I know Melody was looking for better raw materials ahead of this latest flannel release, and she found them!! These flannels are so soft!!

In garment land, we have lots of great things in stock... We have some printed knits from Art Gallery, Alison Glass Handcrafted as well as her knits, and some amazing solids and stripes in bamboo and soy blends (seriously drapey, and really nice to work with). Also, there are some delicious double gauzes in stock from a variety of sources... Great for summer wardrobes.

Machines...
As usual, we have the full classroom of machines, a few ironing stations, 2 sergers, and a whole bunch of cutting mats.
There are plenty of rooms, and everybody should be able to do whatever they want to do that day.  Please don't feel like you need to bring hand work only.  If you've ever wanted to sew on a Bernina, now is your chance!  We have the full range, and we love for you to try them.

While I have your ear, I have to tell you about this new special edition BERNINA coming out in October! This thing is the cat's pajamas! It is the same as the 770 but has a rose gold face plate (so pretty), and it comes with your choice of a second machine (330),  a embroidery unit, or quilters pack for free… For FREE…. None of us have ever seen this kind of deal before, and we're sure it's going to be a hit! We are taking deposits on this now. If you're interested, let one of us know. This weekend is national Swiss day. We are celebrating with 0% financing and discounts on the full range of bringing a machines. Also, if you are interested in a serger, I have a really good deal on a classroom model that is almost brand-new.

Lunch...
There are lots of good options in town, within walking distance. One of our favorites The Wine Kitchen. They are offering 10% off to Finch customers.  But another of our favorites is Señor Ramon's… They are brand-new, and their tacos couldn't be more yummy. There's a large back patio that could accommodate all of you. They even serve sangria and beer!

We're giving all of you a little boost up on the regular guild discount (10%), and you'll get 20% off everything your little heart desires!! Yes, even the machines!

Can't wait to see you!
xoxo,
the Finch
