August Meeting at Patches in Mt. Airy this Saturday (8/27)

This Saturday's meeting is from 10am to 4pm at Patches, 308 S. Main Street Mount Airy, Maryland.  Patches has several irons and cutting mats; however, please bring your own rotary cutter if you'll be cutting.

We will be sewing upstairs in the room that we met in last year.  In the past, there has been room for about 16 sewing machines, which will be available on a first-come-first-served basis, plus a few more hand sewing spaces.

If the parking lot is full, you can drop off your things and park in the municipal lots just past the shop on the right.  There are several local restaurants within easy walking distance for lunch.  Guild business and show and tell will start around 1:30pm.

If you pre-ordered a DCMQG T-shirt, they'll be available for pick-up at the meeting.  Word has it, they turned out great!

We've had a couple other events show up on the DCMQG radar as well:

First, we just sent out the Save-the-Date and upcoming-registration information about a workshop this Fall with Northern Jersey MQG member Melanie Tuazon!  This will be held on Saturday, November 5th at a church in Alexandria, VA.  Melanie will be teaching her modern approach to sewing curves and participants will be starting a Trill quilt (pictured below)!  A link for sign-ups will go out to members this Monday, 8/29 at 8:00pm.  Check your emails!

Second, the DCMQG will be partnering with the Arlington Arts CostumeLab in March 2017 for a modern quilt show!  Details are forthcoming and we'll be sending out a call for submissions soon (keep your eyes peeled); all current DCMQG members can submit their beautiful quilts for consideration.  The board is very excited about this unique opportunity for our guild and we look forward to filling everyone in as soon as we can!

Hope to see a lot of you on Saturday!
